Google SERP simulator: your result before publishing.
Type a title, a meta description and a URL: the preview updates live, on mobile and desktop, with the cut-off measured in pixels just like Google does.

Counters
Google benchmarks: about 600 px for the title (50 to 60 characters depending on the letters), two lines for the description on desktop, three on mobile. The cut-off depends on letter widths, not on a fixed number.

Write titles and descriptions that will not be cut
Google does not cut a title at a number of characters: it cuts it at a width in pixels, about 600 px on desktop. A title full of capitals and Ws is cut earlier than one made of i and l. This simulator measures the real width of the text with the font used in Google results and shows the cut-off exactly where it will happen.
It is useful at three moments of agency work: writing the tags of a new site, fixing a batch of pages whose titles overflow after an audit, and showing the client, preview in hand, why a title must be shortened.
Everything runs in your browser: nothing is sent to a server, so you can paste tags from pages that are still confidential.
How to read the preview
- Title: 30 to 60 characters, main keyword first, brand name last. If it is cut, Google may even rewrite it.
- Meta description: 70 to 155 characters, two lines on desktop. It is not a ranking factor but strongly influences click-through rate.
- URL: Google shows the domain then the path as a breadcrumb. Short, readable URLs reassure.
- Counters: green in the recommended range, orange too short, red too long or cut.
- Mobile: the title fits on two lines and the description on three, at a narrower width.
Frequently asked questions
What is the ideal title length for Google?
Between 30 and 60 characters, roughly 600 pixels wide on desktop. The real limit is in pixels: wide letters such as M, W or capitals reduce the number of characters shown. The simulator measures that width instead of counting characters.
What is the ideal meta description length?
Between 70 and 155 characters to fit on two lines on desktop. Google may show a bit more on some queries or replace the description with a page excerpt if it believes that answers the search better.
Why does Google show a different title from my pageβs?
Since 2021, Google rewrites titles it considers too long, too repetitive or not descriptive enough, often from the H1 or the anchor text of links pointing to the page. A short, descriptive title consistent with the H1 is usually kept as is.
Does the simulator send my text anywhere?
No. The width calculation and the preview run entirely in your browser, with no server call. You can work on tags for unpublished pages in full confidentiality.
How do I fix the titles of every page on a client site?
The GoMySeo SEO audit lists each page with its title and meta description, flags those that overflow or are duplicated, and proposes rewrites you approve. The report exports as PDF or CSV with your branding.
